Project Location:
The Palo Alto East Wind Project is located approximately 16 miles west of Corpus Christi, Texas. The project sits entirely within Nueces County.

Project Interconnection:
Transmission lines running near and through the project are owned and operated by AEP. Both 138 kV and 345 kV electrical lines are available and can serve electrical loads in southern Texas coastal regions or be exported out of the area to San Antonio, Austin, Houston or other parts of Texas.
Project Size:
100-125 MW
Project Turbines:
To be determined.
Landowners and Acreage Involved:
Palo Alto East Wind Project encompasses approximately 15,000 acres.
Commercial Operation:
The construction ready date could be as early as Q2 2012.
Utility Buyers:
The power to be produced by the Palo Alto East Wind Project is currently being marketed to local and regional utilities.
Project Developer:
The developer of the Palo Alto East Wind Project is TradeWind Energy, LLC (“TradeWind”), which is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. The senior managers of TradeWind have over 100 years of combined experience in the independent power development business including acquisitions and project development across the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as significant regulated utility experience.
Key Project Attributes:
- The 100 MW + Palo Alto East Wind Project would produce enough power for approximately 35,000 Texas homes.
- The project will take approximately 150 acres of land out of service to build, including all land for roads, turbine foundations, and maintenance buildings. The rest of the approximately 15,000 acres leased for the project will still be farmed and ranched exactly as it was prior to construction.
- The project is a very energetic wind development site in the Texas Coastal Bend.
- Once fully developed, the project will pay approximately $1.5 million a year in total annual landowner payments.
- The project will utilize significant local labor and materials for its construction and operations and will generate significant economic benefits to the local community.
- The project is expected to have no material effect on any threatened and endangered species of birds or animals based on third party studies commissioned by TradeWind Energy.
- The project will offset approximately 350,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, 1,250 tons of NOx per year, and 1,750 tons of SO2 per year
